Studio Wildcard’s ARK: Survival Evolved features a wide variety of engaging content. Among the many things available to you are the construction of bases, the exploration of a large open world, and the keeping of dinosaurs as pets. All of prehistoric society is yours to explore. It’s tough to know where to start.

Beginning the process of character advancement is, arguably, the first thing you should do. The game’s leveling system is very helpful. Your carrying capacity, resistance to damage, and ability to inflict damage are all up for grabs with this upgrade. It also awards engram points, which can be used to buy access to previously unavailable crafting materials or techniques. As your character levels up, you’ll be able to construct more impressive items.

In ARK: Survival Evolved, there isn’t just one way to level up; there are a variety of options, and some are more efficient than others. Here are a few of the methods I’ve found to be the most efficient.

6. Collect Explorer Notes

Explorer Notes are a great early-game method of leveling up in ARK: Survival Evolved.

You can find Explorer Notes in chests all over the map, usually close to ancient stone structures. There’s a wealth of knowledge about the wild creatures you’ll encounter and the history of the previous survivors in these books.

You gain a lot of experience and, for a limited time, your XP gains are doubled. Due to this temporary benefit, it is recommended to seek them out early in the game.

There’s no need to worry, though; each explorer note is only hidden once. Lots of them can be discovered all over the globe, and they’re not hard to spot. Always keep an eye out for them because they stand out against player structures and the rest of the environment.

5. Punch Dodos

Killing dinosaurs and other monsters can be a quick way to gain XP as well.

Dodos and Lystrosaurs are easy targets early on; just maul them to death by mashing the left mouse button or right trigger. Although they won’t put up much of a fight, they might try to escape. If they act in this way, it’s time to go after them and end the threat.

Your next targets should be larger animals like Dilophosaurus, Oviraptors, and Iguanodons once you have access to more powerful weapons like spears or bow and arrows. The dinosaurs will fight back, but they shouldn’t prove too difficult. To attack from behind, simply strafe.

If you continue working your way up the corporate ladder, you’ll soon see significant results. It’s important to remember that the larger predators will quickly make short work of you if you go after them too soon.

4. Tame a Dinosaur

Despite the fact that taming dinosaurs won’t grant you a huge amount of experience, it will allow you to take on stronger dinosaurs that you wouldn’t be able to take on foot, which will help you level up faster.

An attempt to domesticate a Raptor-type creature should be made. Put it to use slaying a herd of Stegosaurs. Stegosauruses tend to spawn in the south of the Island map, close to water, so that’s where you should go if you want to farm them. If you keep at it, you’ll be amazed at how far you can come in a relatively short amount of time.

3. Join a Tribe

And if you’re within 100 meters of another player while they’re leveling up, you’ll get a boost to your own experience as well. Because of this, if you work with your tribemates, you can advance through the levels relatively quickly. Just ask around in chat to see if anyone is hiring. Have faith; it will be well worth your time.

2. Farm Resources

The gathering of materials is another method of gaining experience. Simply construct a number of storage chests and stock them with locally sourced materials such as wood, stone, flint, fiber, and so on.

With this method, you can accomplish a few things. It will speed up your XP gains and provide you with enough materials for future crafting. It’s not the most exciting way to level up, but it pays off eventually.

1. Always Be Crafting

Crafting is another viable method of leveling up. You can maximize your experience gains by crafting certain types of gear, so do so if you find that appealing.

Produce your own sparkpowder and torches early on. These are both inexpensive and provide substantial experience gains over time.

Instead of using concrete, you could use a ton of thatch or wood to create a sturdy base. This is a good system because it allows you to reuse some of the materials after the structures have been built and then demolished.
